A small waterfall (7ft tall) cuts through the tussock high country flat on the Dunstan Mountains.

What a spot to have lunch, at the waterfall on Thomsons Creek in the middle of the Dunstan Mountains. This was an important historic route for Kāi Tahu between the Manuherekia & Mata-au (Clutha). I thought about those hardy souls as I sat there.

The ye olde abandoned abandoned Newtown Tavern - a very old mud brick hotel from the Gold Rush days - painted white, nestled at the base of tussock covered hills - blue skies with fluffy white clouds

The Newtown Tavern, 2 doors - presumably one would be the general tavern & the smaller door the 'ladies' salon

A mud brick shed from ye olde black & white days - old farm machinery outside, but the tractor had new struts, so presumably is still used.

My first visit to Matakanui in the western Manuherekia, Central Otago NZ, & wow it was awesome. The aim was to get a few shots here & head up the Thompsons Saddle 'road' over to Bendigo over those hills.

An absolutely epically wide panorama of a sunset above a high country lake that's partially frozen. Fishing huts surround the lake edge in the tussocks - bright pink & purple sky with some high cloud getting illuminated

Epic 110 megapixel panorama of the marvellous Poolburn Reservoir in Central Otago, NZ under a winter sunset.

At 833m above sea level it was -3°C & just heaven on earth (part of the lake still frozen).
