A quotation from Christopher Marlowe
> FAUSTUS: Lucifer and Mephistophilis. Ah, gentlemen! I gave them my soul for my cunning!
> ALL: God forbid!
> FAUSTUS: God forbade it, indeed; but Faustus hath done it.

I just finished this book, my favorite kind of biography: a life and times. However, so little is known about Christopher Marlowe's life that it really is more a times with a fair amount of speculation about the life. Still, a great read. #ChristopherMarlowe #ElisabethanEngland #Shakespeare
A screenshot of the AP website with the headline “ICE claim that a man shattered his skull running into wall triggers tension at a Minnesota hospital”
This tells me someone in ICE has read Marlowe’s Tamburlaine the Great. I have trouble believing this happened in reality, but it sure does in that play.

By then, #flagellation had became a form of kinky sex. #ChristopherMarlowe (d1593) described it done in a #brothel:
“When Francis comes to solace with his whore,
He sends for rods and strips himself stark naked
For his lust sleeps, and will not rise before

Not much to add here: everybody knows Marlowe’s #plays.
Yes, maybe #DoctorFaustus and #TheJewOfMalta are the most famous ones, but #reading all and appreciating their range is #awesome.
