Mount Melleray in west Waterford - home to an order of Cistercian monks who fled France in 1832. Over the decades it’s become a place of contemplation & retreat on a beautiful site on the Knockmealdown mountains along the St. Declan’s pilgrimage route.
Inside the public church at Mount Melleray. There is also a larger, plainer community church.
Many people have been flocking to have their confession heard before the monastery closes this weekend.
