COUNTRY ANALYSIS from #climateactiontracker: Japan is unlikely to meet even its weak 2030 targets, let alone anything stronger, despite emissions dropping.
It must wean itself off its addiction to coal, "clean" or not, and beef up its renewables capacity.
The country is still rated "Insufficient".
Despite agreeing on ‘carbon neutral growth’ from 2020 and a ‘long-term aspirational goal of net zero carbon emissions by 2050’, there is little sign of appropriate action from ICAO governments to reduce international #aviation emissions.

Given there's been no major new #climatepolicy in India due to the elections, the #climateactiontracker overall rating of India’s climate targets and action remains “Highly insufficient”.
Azerbaijan’s energy-related methane emissions are also increasing quickly whereas for 1.5°C alignment these emissions would need to drop by about 66% below 2020 levels by 2030.
The #ClimateActionTracker will likely update this analysis if/when AZE submits a new NDC.
