Rural Vermont warns conservation planning may leave farmland unprotected, calls for broader land‑access reforms Caroline Sherman Borden told the committee that conservation planning under Act 51 and regional mapping under Act 181 have proceeded with inadequate agricultural input, and that conservation easements alone may not keep land affordable or available for future farmers; she urged substantive land‑access reform.

Vermont's conservation planning is at risk of sidelining farmers, with calls for more representation and urgent reforms to protect our agricultural lands for future generations.

WPAC data review shows thousands of domestic wells; county eyeing reclaimed‑water plan and better measurement A Water Policy Advisory Committee member presented preliminary county well mapping and water‑use analysis showing about 12,572 active domestic wells and 416 wells completed since 2020; county staff said bulk‑fill station usage appears in public utility data and a reclaimed water master plan will be brought to the commission in 2026.

Santa Fe County is uncovering a wealth of water data, revealing over 12,000 active domestic wells and a bold plan for reclaimed water by 2026!
