I liked the curd, but with 50/50 orange/lemon it is much milder than full lemon. So if full lemon curd is too much for you, try doing it this way! #cookieparty
Also my mom did not have a double boiler or a silicone-coated whisk; curd tasted just fine made in a metal pot w/a metal whisk.

From 1943, The Modern Family Cookbook by Meta Givens GINGER ICE-BOX COOKIES 4 cups all-purpose flour 1 teaspoon soda 3½ teaspoons ginger ¼ teaspoon salt 1 cup shortening (part butter) ½ cup light brown sugar, firmly packed ¾ cup sorghum molasses 2 eggs, unbeaten Sift flour, measure and resift 3 times with soda, ginger and salt. Cream butter, blend in sugar, add sorghum and eggs, and beat vigorously until smooth and fluffy. Then add flour mixture and stir until thoroughly com-bined. Pack into a refrigerator freezing tray lined with waxed paper, and place in refrigerator to chill until very firm; or shape in roll and wrap in waxed paper before chilling. Do not freeze. When ready to bake, slice ⅛ inch thick, place on buttered cookie sheet, and bake in a moderate oven (350° F.) for 20 minutes, or until nicely browned. The dough may be kept in the refrigerator several days, if well wrapped, and sliced and baked as cookies are needed. Makes about 6½ dozen cookies
