Feels like the swamp didn’t used to be a swamp, but a port. The inlet entrance filled in, and maybe spoils from burying on island, made the swamp.
The ‘Vault’ looks like flood chamber (maybe) that could flood out treasure chambers, or , maybe brought water to swamp?
