I was under the impression that those sort of taxpayers probably don't use #CycleToWork due to BIK issues.

What's the point of #SalarySacrifice? Buying discounted fancy luxury goods** effectively subsidised by government, or enabling consumers to support/realise some policy 'good';
pension-investment, #CycleToWork, or domestic green-energy schemes?

or is it solely pensions & cars?

Even if the criticism is people using bikes at the weekend for leisure rather than the intended commuting, making the population more active reduces sick days, reduces pressure on healthcare and keeps people independent for longer #TheMiraclePill

Car subsidies, meanwhile… #CycleToWork

As I understand it, #CycleToWork isn’t accessible to those on the lowest wages as the salary sacrifice takes them below minimum wage. Not being able to subsidise transport for this group hasn’t been addressed & there maybe needs to be a parallel non-salary sacrifice subsidy scheme for this group?

They certainly *should* stop SS for cars.

#CycleToWork has problems, the biggest one is that it’s not open to those who would benefit most from a subsidised bike. But this is not a reason to remove it (and there is a societal benefit to people being active, commuting or not)
