I wrote a blog post on "dark taxa" doi.org/10.59350/xhv... on DNA sequences in GenBank that lacked proper scientific names. I suspect most people use #darktaxa to mean species we haven't discovered, whereas I meant species we'd sequenced but couldn't link to anything else because they lacked names.
