Could AI scoring help with managing DCIS? An AI model showed associations with recurrence after DCIS surgery and performed comparably to established clinical risk models.

AI scores from a commercially available model showed independent associations with ipsilateral recurrence after breast-conserving surgery for DCIS #radiology #DCIS #breastcancer #AI buff.ly/Zu8tuW5

Nonsurgical management and bilateral mastectomy for low-risk, hormone receptor–positive #DCIS both increased from 2004 to 2022; endocrine therapy peaked in 2020 then declined, with persistent sociodemographic variation. bit.ly/3O06NeZ

New breast cancer treatment trial at UCSF aims to avoid invasive surgery for patients Waiting and seeing is not often the strategy employed when it comes to treating breast cancer, but a new clinical trial by the University of California, San Francisco, researchers are doing just that.

Do patients with a non-invasive type of #BreastCancer need surgery to prevent progression—or is it better to hold off & carefully monitor their condition? A @ucsfcancer.bsky.social clinical trial focuses on determining the best approach for patients with #DCIS.

I have 2 #DCIS (stage 0) buddies now dealing w/ #metastatic #breastcancer. It's not jst stage 1 & 2 peeps. Anyone diagnosed w/ #ER+ #BC is at risk 4 late #recurrence (even 15, 20, 25, 30 yrs later). It's the nature of the beast but that's NOT relayed 2 early-stagers. #CanSky @stage4kelly.bsky.social

#JAMAROTY25: The COMET Randomized Clinical Trial

Active monitoring for low-risk #DCIS was noninferior to standard treatment over 2 years, with similar rates of invasive cancer and fewer mastectomies compared with guideline-concordant care.

Dr. Eric Winer at #SABCS25 reframed how to think about #breastcancer subsets and reminded attendees that #DCIS treatment depends on clear patient education and patient-led decisions. “There is not simply a right choice.”

It's Oct - breast cancer awareness month. And this year, I have a personal connection. Yesterday I had a lumpectomy to remove ductal carcinoma. It was caught early thanks to my annual mammogram. So, don't forget to get whatever test you should have when it's due. Early detection saves lives. #dcis

SCI member Robert West & others found #DCIS comprises multiple genetic clones with significant phenotypic diversity and linked alterations in epithelial cell states and basement membrane integrity with invasive breast cancer progression.

Anruf BGZ Leoben. Gestern waren meine Mammographiebilder Thema beim Tumorboard.
Radiologe meinte "den Mikrokalk in der re. Brust würde er doch sehr gerne biopsieren, da der i-wie komisch ist". 🙈
Vorbesprechung in 2 Wochen.
Dann hoffen wir mal. 🙏
Sonst Programm wie links 2022. 🙈
