Rabbits, or lovely March hares? Bunny tails, free range street rabbits and some unfortunate coney catches in the National Gallery for today's #DistanceDrift
Rabbits, or lovely March hares? Bunny tails, free range street rabbits and some unfortunate coney catches in the National Gallery for today's #DistanceDrift
Digital collage of a hare leaping with 'droppings' (actually road stones)
Digital collage of natural and man-made findings that I used to collage a hare leaping
Walking #distancedrift with @sonia.overall searching for rabbits and hares but only body parts were to be found
@soniaoverall.bsky.social are there any rabbits in Edinburgh? #distancedrift
Rabbits! It's the first Sunday in March, and today's #DistanceDrift takes its cue from the saw that saying (and seeing) rabbits on the 1st of this month will bring good luck. Wherever you wander, seek the leporid, build a bunny, hare about - you get the idea. Share finds as you go or at the end.
Brilliant orange-red dogwood clump, with lots of pale purple crocuses coming up in swathes between the branches
But also this, which feels like a flaming autumnal vibe but is undeniably February dogwood and crocuses. Not so much a tip of spring as an Imbolc defiance of the dark? #DistanceDrift
Snowdrops!
Golden crocuses just about to open
Actual spring flowers in the park being photographed by absolutely everyone. I am also guilty. #DistanceDrift
Feet in wet and sturdy brown boots on damp pavement
Street tree surround with thin green sprouts poking up in various places
Moss and tiny green plants growing vibrantly on a tiny ledge in a brick wall
Stompy damp #UnconfinedWalks on a perfect day for a #DistanceDrift on the tipping point of spring. Moss is lush, bulbs are sprouting in unpromising places.
Signs of tipping into Spring on today's #DistanceDrift for Brigid, Imbolc and Candlemastide. Buds on shrubs, scatterings of snowdrops and everything just a little bit fresher, greener and juicier.
#distancedrift Happy Imbolc ๐
As ever, interpret freely: share finds and resonances as you go or at the end. #DistanceDrift
Morning! As today's #DistanceDrift falls upon St Brigid's Day, Imbolc and Candlemastide, let's wander seeking signs of the tip from winter into spring... Staying home? Time for some seasonal indoor adjustments, tiny spring cleans or maybe, make a Brigid's cross to hang inside your door.
As well as this weekend's Candlemas #folkwalks there's time tomorrow (Sunday) to squeeze in February's #DistanceDrift. Walking prompt posted here at 10am if you fancy joining me.
A lightly snowy woodland with low light pinging across the image.
Alder buds and catkins, all cast in a warm reddish glow.
Bright acid yellow hazel catkins.
Nearly a twilight #DistanceDrift walk, but plenty of shiny new buds and catkins to observe. #UnconfinedWalks
Feet in sturdy brown boots on footpath with frosty leaves
Bare plane tree against a clear brilliant blue sky, every branch outlined and shining in the sun
View in brilliant sunshine along a dull road but under bright blue sky, framed with red berries of an evergreen with an outthrust branch
View east across south London from a high hill, showing trees, buildings and a distant pale horizon under a stony clear blue sky
I missed that it was #DistanceDrift today but I wandered freely, looking at the chilly spaces in fresh air with clear eyes. So not inappropriate for the theme. And firmly #UnconfinedWalks tyvm.
Post #DistanceDrift treat - trying out a shiny new cafe. Especially welcome after packing up last night's #hoodening and #wassail event!
Shiny and new #DistanceDrift: shiny shop window, ducks breaking a new pond on a sunny spot in the frozen river, bright new future for an empty shop?
Early morning pale blue and orange sky with full moon and street lamp
A magpie feather, black white and grey on a shiny slatted metal bench
A wide view of beach reflecting sunrise colours of orange blue yellow dog walker and dog in the distance
A new morning, gleaming metal bench and shining sands in Edinburgh. Happy New Year distance drifters #distancedrift
It's the first #DistanceDrift of the year, and today's wander invites you to seek out the shiny and new. Wrap up warm or saunter in your slippers; interpret freely; share finds as you go or at the end.
It's a bright and crisp morning for a #DistanceDrift. I'll be blowing the cobwebs away with a wander from 10am, if you fancy joining me wherever you are.
White teapot and milk jug, brown cup and saucer (cup with a white top to show it is all a set), tiny bundt cake alongside
Cosy #DistanceDrift: early for my morning entertainment, I enjoy a solo #TeaUp
Cosy #DistanceDrift continued: Inglenook advert; Christmas candles in the church tower shadow; the irresistible call of coffee and cake.
Cosy #DistanceDrift: sheltered leaf nest; fireside promise; cheering wreath; cosiness in a glass dome at the excellent @creepymoonclub window...
It's chucking it down out there again. Time for the Big Socks... Inspired by the seasonal weather, today's #DistanceDrift invites you to get cosy. Wherever you wander, indoors or out, seek that which comforts. Give yourself a hygge hug. Share finds as you go or at the end.
