Another #pastel from the year after the previous posting showing the view from #DowningCollege across to the Gothic Revival Church of Our Lady of the Assumption and the English Martyrs, still listed as the tallest building in Cambridge (known as #OLEM). I used to walk past it every day.

The #DowningCollege Netball team has its eyes set on glory this season! After securing promotion from Division 3 to Division 2 in Michaelmas, they have their eyes set on reaching the top division – a target that is firmly in their reach.
Not too bad a photo of the original. This shows the Downing College Rose Garden with the Armillary sundial (an armillary sphere is a sphere made from a number of rings. The term comes from the Latin armilla meaning a ring or bracelet). It was commissioned by the late Richard Stibbs, a friend and great supporter of my paintings. He held many roles within the University and later became the President of the college. I very much enjoyed doing this and remember the playful sparrows splashing around in the water. He used to invite me frequently for drinks, to play croquet and to dine at high table: memorable occasions but attended by me with reluctance as I am a shy, retiring sort of person - and I somewhat dreaded the croquet!
