And I can’t help but imagine Pasternak, Eve Babitz, and du Maurier in a room together: What would they talk about? What would they laugh about? Would they even like each other? What poems/stories would they share?

#DuMaurier #Rebecca

It's taken me a long time to get round to reading Rebecca (I was put off by the misconception it was a girly romance, further reinforced by the book's cover). But I was mistaken - it's a well crafted psychological novel. I really enjoyed the style and plot.

Last winter, I found at a Little Library a dark little #mystery by Daphne #DuMaurier called "The Apple Tree." It's the size of a children's book and you could read it in one sitting. But the nightmare will last much longer.
