The Dalserf #hogback with its fine tegulation! More restrained than its cousins at @govanstones.bsky.social but still splendid #viking #earlymediaeval #3d #photogrammetry

Not a bad photo as a side effect of a drone survey down at @govanstones.bsky.social today… #earlymediaeval #viking

For #StandingStoneSunday, here's the Logie Elphinstone 2 #Pictish symbol stone. A very odd shape, with two sets of super-imposed symbols and a circular #ogham. What's not to like?! #earlymediaeval #3d #photogrammetry

The “gingerbread man” #hogback stone from St Oswald’s Church, Lythe. Reminds me of the figure style at Heysham. #viking #earlymediaeval #3d #photogrammetry @govanstones.bsky.social

Here's the back face of Sueno's Stone in #Forres rendered from a decimated model made from 914 scans (around 440m triangles). We acquired and processed this #3d #laserscanning dataset in 2004. #3d #Pictish #earlymediaeval

Here's the Craw Stane standing just outside Rhynie. This is a #3d #photogrammetry capture from 2023, though we did #laserscan Rhynie 2 and 3 in the village square all the way back in 2002! The #Pictish symbols on this probably reused #megalith are superb #earlymediaeval

Here's the Peterhead #Pictish Class I symbol stone, also a reused #megalith. The stone stands at the head of Gleneagles. My photo is from 1994, the render is from our 2001 #3d #laserscan showing the weathered goose and rectangle symbols #earlymediaeval

Here's a little-known cross slab remnant from Lochwinnoch and part of the @govanstones.bsky.social school. This is the Dumb Proctor stone featuring a snake boss similar to the Govan Sunstone, a horseman and a large figure on the reverse. #earlymediaeval #3d #photogrammetry

For #StandingStoneSunday, here’s the Govan Sunstone, a reused #megalith. If you’re looking for an unusual Xmas gift, we sell perfect miniatures of these for @govanstones.bsky.social at store.archaeoptics.co.uk #earlymediaeval #viking

The Fairlie Stone. A prone figure (warrior?) with two animals. Two different renderings off a #3d #photogrammetry model @govanstones.bsky.social #earlymediaeval

Here’s a render of all 4 sides of the Nethertoun Cross, one of the weirder @govanstones.bsky.social School (or maybe Whithorn) outliers. Bird-headed figures? Odd spirals? Dodgy interlace? Geometric stuff? This has it all! #earlymediaeval #3d #photogrammetry

For #StandingStoneSunday, here's one of the megaliths from Broomend of Crichie near Inverurie. This #megalith has been adapted with two fine #Pictish symbols. The stone circle also lies within a small henge with outlying stones nearby #earlymediaeval #3d #photogrammetry
