Folks working in #envcomm, #ecomedia, #ecocriticism, or #envhum might be interested in our recent publication - the first systematic, large-scale analysis of the presence and portrayal of climate change and other environmental problems in fictional narratives in the academic literature.
Absolutely thrilling news! Looking forward to it as I'm working on my book on #ecomedia in the Central and Eastern European perspective.
Tomorrow after my #Ecomedia talk I'll show this mesmerizing short film by Joel Penner that was part of a program I curated at the wonderful Dokufest in #Kosovo called "Ripples and Threads: Poetic Shorts from #Canada." I expect sparks to fly re: our relationship to organic decay & transformation.
Opening slide for a talk that says: "Ecomedia: Critical Crossroads," Sofia University, Dec 6, 2024. Lower lines say: Dr. Ezra Winton, Assistant Professor, Journalism, Media and Communication, AUBG, with email and BlueSky handle.
My first talk with #BlueSky account listed instead of the dead bird account :) #Ecomedia #CulturalStudies #Sofia
A quote from Vandana Shiva: “Economic reforms based on the idea of limitless growth in a world can only be maintained if the powerful grab the resources of the vulnerable.”
Teaching the #Ecofeminism book by Maria Mies & Vandana Shiva in my #Ecomedia class and this Shiva quote seems terribly timely 10 years after it was written…
Book cover of "The Sustainability Class" by Vijay Kolinjivadi and Aaron Vansintjan -- Neon pink title, like a neon sign, floating above a bunch of green plants.
Hello butterflies! The brilliant & generous @vijaykol.bsky.social & @avansi.bsky.social spoke in my #Ecomedia class today about their fabulous new book. I can't tell you how refreshing it is to hear smart political people centre class in discussions of #environmentalism & #climate - thank you both!
A slide showing an image of protesters on the left and on the right a list of five things for effective action for the environment / climate: 1. Organize collectively, 2. Plant-based diet, 3. Ecomedia, 4. Personal emissions, and 5. Vote for environmentalist politicians.
Slide I recently showed it my #Ecomedia class on some of the tips for effective action on #climate and the #environment. There are many more (as have been circulated here) but I wanted to keep the list short and feisty. This responds to the main question students inevitably ask.
In my #Ecomedia class today I used 🦋 for our "Good News" portion of the class to talk about the positives of getting off T/X and being here. Then I remembered—more accurately they reminded me—that they have never used Twitter, don't know what 🦋 is, and are very busy on IG most of the time. 🤔
