International Studies / Development / IR scholarship is - ironically - stuck in a #Eurocentric rut, making (far) too much of the centrality of the relatively brief period of intensive European #colonisation in explaining everything transpiring thereafter.

What you’re seeing here is #ethnonationalism, it’s rooted in white supremacy & historically tied to white & #Eurocentric ideology. The idea that certain groups are more “easily assimilated” is coded language for “they look like us & fit OUR vision of #American identity.”

It seems like many people don't realise that indicating time referring to the seasons is rather #Eurocentric. Telling me 'x will happen in winter 2025' is vague - for everyone in the Southern Hemisphere, and for me in Norway too as winter is much longer here than in mainland Europe.
