In closing, #ExorcistIITheHeretic is a shitty film - but definitely NOT one of the worst movies ever made. The movie is SO HATED - because the fans of the much beloved first film were put off by the sequel’s unconventionality. To the filmmakers’ credit - they tried making something “different”. Ⓐ
It’s rare to see film characters with the same last name as myself, and ALSO spelled the way mine is. BUT #ExorcistIITheHeretic is so shitty, it’s a disgrace to my clan. In honour of the unintentionally hilarious hypnosis machine - the film ought to be re-titled “Exorcist II: BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP”. Ⓐ
One highlight of #ExorcistIITheHeretic - is the part where the inept priest is nearly stoned to death by a mob. Why? Because his choice of words made him sound like a devil-worshipper. Like I said - he’s inept. Stonings in movies always look unintentionally hilarious - this one is no exception. Ⓐ
It turns out in #ExorcistIITheHeretic, “Regan” is a holy girl - who can perform miracles (so she’s a target of demons). And there’s also a holy man - who dresses up as bugs (in a man-sized locust costume, to be specific). It is not said if “Regan” will have to dress up in such embarrassing attire. Ⓐ
Instead, in #ExorcistIITheHeretic, the inept priest is told to investigate #ReganMacNeil’s possession from a few years earlier - and he’s convinced she’s STILL possessed. BUT she showed no sign of that - UNTIL they used some weird hypnosis machine on her (so they can LITERALLY see her “dreams”). Ⓐ
Well, the first thing that goes wrong in #ExorcistIITheHeretic, is the first onscreen (attempted) exorcism. A possessed girl sets herself on fire, and burns down a building. After that fatal disaster, you’d assume the Church would NOT give said inept priest another important assignment. Ⓐ
Re-watched #ExorcistIITheHeretic - a notoriously shitty sequel. I hated the film when I saw it many, MANY years ago - but was curious to see if I’d have a different opinion of it today. Well, I was impressed by the other #JohnBoorman movies I’ve seen. Could his film have gone as wrong as they say? Ⓐ
