Ceremonial cylindrical vessel with two handles, resting on an openwork annular foot. The body of the vase is sculpted in the round with two frontal deities displaying feline features, identifiable by their open jaws and prominent fangs. These figures are integrated into an architectonic composition that includes arcades evoking temple façades or stepped structures, as well as lateral ideograms, among which appears a serpentiform motif possibly associated with the Feathered Serpent deity, Kukulcan.
The decoration is framed at the top and bottom by two continuous friezes of serpent scales, sculpted
Stone ceremonial vessels from the Ulúa Valley rank among the most prestigious productions of the southern Maya area. Likely used in major elite rituals, they combine divine iconography, architectural symbolism, and mythic animal imagery in compositions of remarkable complexity. The presence of the Feathered Serpent Kukulcan—a major deity
associated with fertility, power, and the circulation of cosmic forces— emphasizes the sacred character of the piece. Examples of such vessels have been documented as far as Guatemala, Mexico, and Costa Rica, attesting to the cultural influence and wide-reaching connections of the Ulúa Valley ceremonial centers during the Late Classic and Early Postclassic periods.

Another of Apper's species, I don't have an official name yet. The colors are meant to be closer to the real plumage of the Resplendent Quetzal Bird

An ancient symbol reborn in living color. This is no ordinary ouroboros. This is the feathered serpent dreaming itself into being again and again.

Digital art of the mesoamerican serpent deity Quetzalcoatl. It show him as a feathered snake, floating over the background as all the silly Beasties are. He has a green body with a yellow belly and a red crest all along. His head is green with a blue nose, eyes brow and curling horns, his lips are yellow and he has a mane of red feathers. He is grinning wide with lots of fangs and two tongues who are curling in different directions. A wings is behind him with rows of green, cyan, blue, mauve and purple feather. The background behind him look like a forest and blue sky, except the pattern of clouds and trees look like traditional weaving pattern from Mesoamerica

A colorful winged and feathered serpent-dragon is the central image. Its tongue is sticking out, because the artist likes drawing tongues. Its feathers contain all the colors of the rainbow, but don't follow anything like standard avian morphology. Its tail has feathers of different sizes, and the longest of them curl across the bottom third of the picture. In the background are highly stylized leaf and flower shapes. The dragon was colored with Prismacolor pencils, and there are glittery gel pen accents and details. The background is a watercolor wash with salt mottling, and Prismacolor pencil to bring out the detail of the leaves and flowers.

This is "Tapestry of the Vigilant", an image that comes from my "Dragon Adventure 4" coloring book. I've enlarged it to 14x17 so I could really play with the detail.

Qetz was the guardian monster of the Aztec Empire in its prime and the protector of Mesoamerica, as well as the de-facto leader of the five feathered serpent kaiju. The feathered serpent protects the land of Mexico.

Thousands of years ago, the region from Mexico down to South America was home to a plethora of many exotic kaiju. The most iconic were the feathered serpents, a unique family of snakes capable of flight. Their origins were from the great amniotic fluid like all cryptids and kaiju. From the feathered serpents, a few were able to evolve into kaiju. These feathered serpent kaiju - Awanyu, Kukulkan, Xiuhcoatl, Qʼuqʼumatz - all held supremacy over the region, but chief among them was Quetzalcōātl. Being the most powerful of his brethren, he kept them in line with strict discipline and violence if needed. Together, they were known as the Five Sons by the proto-Mesoamerican society that worshipped them. They guarded the land and protected their progeny from other kaiju. As cultures in Mesoamerica changed and diversified - across the Olmecs, Zapotecs, Maya, Toltecs, Aztecs, and others - so did the perception of the feathered serpents, the knowledge from the proto-Mesoamericans recontextualized, misinterpreted, mistranslated, forgotten, or even rewritten across various scholars. Though human civilization changed, the Five Sons remained steadfast in protecting their territory from other kaiju and humans who lacked trepidation. At some point, Qetz had gone to do battle with a kaiju named Tezcatlipōca, chasing him across the sea. The latter was ultimately killed but not before greatly wounding Qetz. Despite his best efforts, the great feathered serpent did not possess the strength to return all the way back to Mesoamerica and ultimately had to burrow inside a mountain that would one day dwell within Rio de Janeiro. Thousands of years later, Qetz awoke and cut a bloody swathe across the land to return home.
