Sure, they're wearing wool coats, but it's autumn, and the rain is cold. The shepherdess isn't really enjoying the day either, but a girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do, and this girl's job is shepherding the sheep.

One of my favorite gifts I got this year for my birthday is this DC Comics Style Guide by Jose Luis Garcia Lopez.

This was the definitive DC Art when I was growing up and it was drew me into Super Powers. It's possibly the best representation of the characters period.

Emerald is a beautiful young lady leaning forward onto the arm of a chair. She is surrounded by greenery. There is an elaborate decorative circular mosaic halo behind her head. 

Emerald is portrayed as a mysterious and menacing precious stone. The armchair with animals heads on each arm rest is inspired by one of Mucha's own chairs. It can be seen in many of his drawings and photographs.
