On one side because of the #forUkraineGb but also because I wanted to show support. Many of my projects contain parts manufactured in Ukraine. I know it is not much to buy a figurine or kit but it is at least something I can do 💙💛

18 Sunflowers later the Tank project is finally complete!
This was really a journey but I am glad I took it on.

Well the only downside is the base does not fit the tank’s colors. I tried to make some changes what made things not exactly better 😂
I will build the sunflowers and then decide what to do with it…

close up of the rust. I was supposed to remove most of it but since that was not possible (without removing the varnish and possibly paint as well) I put on more until I got a satisfying result. Sure it is thick and crusty but I am pretty happy with the finale result! :)

The tutorial said "remove most of the rust with Airbrush thinner" it removed the Rust AND the Varnish.
So I had to go with fuck it and embrace the Rust!

I added green paint leftovers. It is funny how the look completely changed with the green. Next is rust I bet it will completely change again 😅

Tank model painted in different shades of gray and rusty tones. It is supposed to look like burned metal. I thought putting random shades of gray on a tank would be easy….

Soooo this is my tank wreck so far. I am not really sure how I feel about it. I painted it over 4 or 5 times…
It’s supposed to be the bare burned metal and I want to put the rust layer on top of it.
It looks awful… then again it’s supposed to look awful, I guess? 😅

Black primed tank model of an T-90 I try to build it as a burned/destroyed tank. My reference pictures showed the tank covered in rubble, especially in the back where the aluminum boxes of the turret used to be. A lot more rubble than I did here but I tried to recreate the effect at least a bit. I do not know how to paint this whole thing though 😂 I guess normally rubble and dirt is added in the end wich looks also more realistic but since I normally build planes I do not have these kind of products/materials used in armor modeling…

Primed the tank yesterday and did some experimenting with integrating texture/rubble directly into the model, instead of adding it at the end… I have no idea how this will look painted 😅

The base for my tank model. It really did not look bad for a first try… but it also looked like a dune

The base painted in black. Completely. It looks horrible 😅

Base painted! Still a lot of stuff to optimize but it look so much better (and more like a small road next to a field) then the unpainted version :D

I admit I had HUGE doubts after I painted the base black 😅
But after slapping on all paints I could find, I can confidently answer „was it worth it?“ with „yes“ 😁

Working out where I’m going with this & am probably using the SMS dark brown as a primer/rust undercoat then hairspray and XF-62 and really heavy chipping. It will be an old AC used as a chicken coop with flat tyres and a little ‘modern’ story I hope #ForUkraineGB

A very decent little kit from Revell of the M109A6 loosely based on one given to the Ukrainian army. Painted in Tamiya NATO colours and decals from Star. Half the size of my usual builds but not half the fun.
