An employee of a company that manages conservation efforts, intentionally sets fire to dried prairie grasses during a prescribed burn. The fire is controlled and only burns the top layer of dry plants off and it does it very quickly. This allows new growth in the spring to have a better chance to grow and it also helps clear areas where seeds harvested from native wildflowers and plants, will be spread in the fall to promote spring growth.
