Scam and Fraud on Facebook Marketplace: Counterfeit Apple Products
Facebook team including the Meta Pay Support, Facebook Fraud team, and Facebook Marketplace has been completely incompetent and utterly useless in reducing fraud and scam on this platform.
First, despite giving sufficient evidence, the Facebook team has not yet banned the scammer Fernando Alfaro. Second, while buying products on Marketplace, Facebook falsely advertises that purchases are protected and if items are not genuine then Facebook would refund the purchase. However, this is just a complete lie. After reaching out to customer support, my claim was denied and when I try to report Fernando, who sells indistinguishable counterfeit Apple products, all Facebook does is send an automated “No community policies were violated”. Unless engaging in fraud and scam, is acceptable under these policies, I don’t see any reason a scammer would be allowed to dupe people on this platform. I’m utterly disappointed and would not recommend Facebook Marketplace and the false “purchase protection” policies assured by Facebook.
