Progress on the Sustainable Development Goals: The gender snapshot 2025 This edition spotlights the latest evidence on gender equality. In just over a decade, the Sustainable Development Goals have generated significant changes for women and girls. They have spurred new laws upholding women’s rights and led to measurable increases in women’s education and well-being. Yet progress remains far short of ambition. With five years left to reach the Goals, this report outlines bold investments and actions to accelerate progress.

UN Women & UN DESA’s Gender Snapshot 2025 is out—clear view of where SDG 5 is off-track and where investment moves the needle.

Gender data gaps limit progress on #GenderEquality.

Investing in #GenderData drives transformative change. Without inclusive and gender-sensitive data, we can't fully understand or address the disparities women, girls, and gender-diverse people face globally.

Out of 193, only 25 have a woman as head of state or government.

The numbers remind us: there's still work to do.

But they also remind us: women are leading countries, shaping futures, and breaking barriers.

🚫 As of 2024, the availability of gender specific SDG indicators stands at 56%. Without addressing these gaps, gender data fails to capture the full picture of inequality.

🔍 The Role of Gender Data in Policy Making

With increased decentralization in countries like Kenya, county-level #genderdata is becoming essential for effective policymaking.

However, gaps in county and sub-county data hinder decision making.
