Just finished my weekly #Pathfinder campaign. Once we finally worked out where the party was going to go out of game, before the session, they landed on taking on a dragon.
They managed to stealth their way in to the dragon's lair and, with excellent planning and teamwork, begun to lay down a […]

Delta Green The Good Life cover in Chris’s lap on an iPad
Today’s waiting room reading is work-related: The Good Life. 📚
I’m between campaigns right now, as I’m getting ready to run a Black Company one, but it’s been ages since I’ve run Delta Green.
A couple of my players have been seriously jonesing for it, so the gears are turning (always)… 👀🎲 #GMLife
Sadly no gaming again this weekend. We've really had a hard time at getting sessions to happen regularly lately. It's really hard to keep focus and interest in the #MasksANewGeneration game and I really just want to see the #Pathfinder adventure path to its conclusion so I can move on to […]
Do I do some work on my WIP game, read a book or have a little nap watching a movie?
I've got just over 3hrs to I land on Gadigal Country and need to make a decision

I've been running a #D&D game for my son and his friends since just before COVID. I tried to get a mimic disguised as an outhouse into the game some time ago but my players never fell for it. Tonight they finally did and I couldn't be happier as GM. #gmlife

Two years ago, a player asked if I ever wanted a break from GMing to just be a player. My answer remains: Nope.
I can enjoy playing occasionally, but I just don't love the role as much as I love running the game. I am a Forever GM by choice. 🎲✨

I'm supposed to be preparing for a Tomb of Horrors campaign and instead I'm dreaming of a solarpunk setting for Cairn . . .

Fellow GMs! Anyone planning any New Year's one shots?
I'm putting together plans for a clock-tower themed adventure where the new year won't happen unless the clock strikes 12!

Shadowrun Sprawl Sites cover
Fueling up on #Shadowrun: Sprawl Sites before the real quest begins: coffee and breakfast. ☕🍩 Big NYC plans today, but GM prep is always running in the background. 🎲🗽 #GMlife
Fortunetellers use symbols, inference, and leading cues… not to know, but to help others reveal.
Stewards in Ealdsmyth do the same to draw out player truth through story.

Just ran my first StartPlaying session, a wacky holiday one-shot.
What worked:
• Physical comedy translated great to VTT
• Multiplying enemies at Level 1 = real tension
• Pudding puns galore
First session nerves are real, but prep pays off.

Assuming there are no surprise hiccups tomorrow, I will be starting the last module of my #Pathfinder #RiseOfTheRunelords campaign. I have players who are invested in the story and game, which is fantastic.
But...
my players are also DEEPLY focused on all the mechanical bits, baubles, and toys […]
I genuinely enjoy listening to actual play #DnD podcasts like #NADDPOD and #ThreeBlackHalflings, but I really don't care for Dungeons & Dragons 5e itself. (I'm also not a fan of how it limits the number of skills players have and limiting who gets extra melee attacks, but that's a whole […]
For my own original adventures, I develop a plot hook, think about a few locations I might want to run them through, so I can steer things if need be. I work out some villains to challenge them and stat them out as far as needed for the system. I try and make the plot hook something that will […]
When I run a #TTRPG I do two kinds of prep.
For published modules, I read all the pertinent background material to explain what's going on and I read just a little bit past how much material I think my players will get in a single session. Going much further than that risks some serious #ADHD […]
We finished the fifth module in my #Pathfinder #RiseOfTheRunelords game yesterday. I had thought the party would take two weeks to get finished, but instead of fighting their way through the Iron Cages of Lust, they bargained their way through and sent the succubus and her daughters back to the […]
A pile of Starfinder 1E accessories and books with the Corebook opened up to a double page spread showing 4 different character variants.
After an epically long hiatus (thanks to my wild schedule), I’m reigniting my #DeadSuns #Starfinder1E campaign in T-6 days! 🚀 Brushing up on rules & the crew’s rolling in with brand-new characters. Session 1 Redux kicks off with, a fresh group of Starfinders on Absalom Station, ready action! #GMlife
I just finished another #Pathfinder #RiseOfTheRunelords session with the gang. It was hella fun. The players finished exploring the Festering Maze of Sloth and I really got to pull out all the stops about how disgusting it was down in the bathhouse turned sewer. I also managed to get some good […]
I've been running through #RiseOfTheRunelords with my #Pathfinder group. I feel like they really made a mistake in not giving bosses and sub-bosses more minions to aid them in combat. I've had to learn to make adjustments because my players keep whomping my villains.
Also, the whole ogre module […]
