A small fly with huge bright red eyes works over a larger chunk of something while an assortment of little buggy legs and bits scatter over the deck railing beside it.
This cool little flesh fly was reenacting its own tiny horror movie with unidentifiable insect parts littered across the deck railing. Not everything in #nature is pretty but itโs all part of the #ecosystem!

Velvety red gladiolas - a stack of bell-shaped flowers on a very tall stem. The things get, like, three feet tall, lol.
Deep maroon lilies with bright red stamens.
A patch of deep purple oxalis, some with white flowers. Oxalis kinda look like clovers in the leaves - groups of three leaves, growing low to the ground - but the flowers are vastly different from clovers. These guys are star-shaped, but also kind of trumpety.

Three small tomatoes hang in a line. The two outside tomatoes have a normal rounded or oval shape while the middle one has an unusual growth of a pair of pointy pinchers off to the left side that look like scissors trying to chop its neighbor off the vine.
This little tomato is trying to take out the competition. โ๏ธ
