I had a vision of a halo crown like this for years, and I think I got pretty close to the idea in my head! I learned a lot in this process, and hope to carry these things forward ~

The unpainted zip tie crown is on a gold cardboard square on the table. Sophie is holding up a hot glue gun, which was used to help temporarily keep the rays in place.

Sophie is wearing the unpacking zip tie ray crown, now (temporarily) glued into place and cut into shape. The rays alternate in length in repeating groups, with three long rays next two two thinner and shorter rays. The effect is reminiscent of art deco ray designs, or of a snowflake.

A quarter of a gold halo crown is being held above a wooden floor. The rays are clearly divided into groups of three, with each group having its own design that then repeats. Design 1 is a pillar filigree piece with small red rhinestones and white pearls. Design 2 is a layered gold filigree flower with a pearl in the center; above it is a yellow-gold rhinestone and below it is a triangle piece of filigree with a small red accent rhinestone. Design three is the tallest, and has a cross on the top of the longest ray. The cross has a yellow-gold rhinestone in the middle. Below it is a 4-pearl diamond shape with another yellow-gold rhinestone in the middle. Finally, beneath that is a large pyramid filigree piece with yellow and red rhinestones. The order of the designs are Design 1, Design 2, Design 1, Design 3, Design 1, Design 2, Design 1, Design 3, and so on.

Just wanted to share the details on a crown I've shown here before ~ This was my second attempt at a ray crown and it went significantly better than the first!

The white wig head and wig stand are still in front of a white wall, but now the halo crown is painted in solid gold, showing both the rays and the filigree clearly.

Finally got to paint this! Now to find my Gem Tac...
