Image shows detail of page from the St David's College, Lampeter, Minutes, Sept 1875-1886, comprising a handwritten account of day-to-day college life. Entry for 7 February 1876, reports “It was agreed to hold the celebration of St David’s Day on Shrove Tuesday, Feb 29, in consequence of March 1 falling this year on Ash Wednesday, and to hold a Service in the College Chapel with a Sermon to be followed by a luncheon in the College Hall”. This volume belongs to The Roderic Bowen Library & Archives, University of Wales Trinity Saint David, and has been digitised by Cardiff University as part of the digital volunteering project, Crowd Cymru. This page has been enhanced with a daffodil motif.

#HappyStDavidsDay Said before I really like Tête-à-tête* ,they are compact, punchy and have the simple trumpet structure I prefer. I'm not a fan of doubled and tripled flowers. They are a good yellow too, it's almost the lead yellow of the Mk1 Golf. #bloomscrolling #yarden

Apparently St David is famous for the ground rising up as he spoke so people could hear him..... An alternative theory might be that he was trying to avoid a dragon. History provides little evidence either way......
