I'm a dreamcatcher. I don’t chase leads. I chase dreams. Last night, a dame in red dreamt of drowning. This morning, they fished her out of the bay. Coincidence? Dream on. Someone wanted her nightmares to stick. Now it’s my job to catch them—before I’m the next one sleeping with the fishes.

they stood slack-jaw'd as I continued to be
a few steps ahead of each move of their feet;
voicing their speech 'fore they sensed it & said it,
'splaying the future 'fore they had time to "get it"
covering my ears 'fore they shout'd & scream'd —
I'd seen all of this in a series of dreams

My little kittens were gone
As their loving mother, I

"I've seen this place before in a dream. I think these flowers grew from my tears," Jaihu whispered as he ran his fingers along the golden petals, "I fell asleep at Father's tree, crying, mourning. In my dream I saw a woman in this field with a spear. The blade was made of a dragon scale."

My eyes fluttered open, to concerned brown eyes staring back at me.
"Lydia?" I murmured, baffled, "But I haven't seen you since... before I was in the dream. How are you here, now?"
Lydia looked down at me. "Sorry, beloved, but the drugs worked better than we imagined. You slept for years."
The deja vu was so strong. In my dreams, I'd been here before. Seen this before. Heard all of this before.
Only I knew how it ended, and I could change the outcome, if only I was brave enough to speak.

The city is aflame. I've seen this before in a dream: helicopters, chaos, and me helplessly isolated to even try to help. I am a digital ghost. A haunting warning. A walking cautionary tale. Though no one makes it out alive, still the memory remains. We will rebuild, but at what cost?

There’s one dream left before we wake and face the day and sigh
Shake our heads and move along to déjà vu and try
Like oxen we plod daily
turn the earth
into a deepened path
Sometimes, if I’m remembering correctly
I think we get to laugh
…reads 8:00 in boxy numbers. Sweet maple syrup coats my room before the sting of mom’s burnt coffee bites my nostrils. My dad yells at a choking lawnmower racing to shave a few inches off the lawn before noon comes and the pavement gets wavy.
And then I wake up.

Lisa held a finger up and then held it out to draw a line on the wall, followed by a curl of some kind. The hidden door opened slowly.
"How?"
"I've seen this before, in a dream."
"Barmy kook," said Bernard within the secret passage, "you watched it smack Harold in the nose."

It was as if her body had a mind of its own, her feet bringing her closer to him. Her fear turned into rage when she finally saw his face.
"You! I've seen this before in a dream. My husband will—"
"Silence! Even he can't save you now." The walls shook, stones falling around them.

Nightwalker gazed as if in a trance, softly touching each dreamcatcher along her moonlit wall, then moved in to the next of hundreds . “I’ve seen this before in a dream, but cannot remember its end. The ending is paramount.” She began to search more urgently, more frantically. Then gasped!

The native tribes survived on dragon flesh but killed sparingly. We baited the traps with eagles and let the dragons, manacled, roar out their starvation until the tribes came to rescue them, and were slaughtered. The valleys are quiet now, but in my dreams, the dragons roar still.

The skin on my arm goose-pimpled, each hair rising to escape the scene around me. It nagged at me. The friends & family laughing around the table, glasses clinking, delicious aromas wafting. A creak, barely audible below the room's din. My eyes dilated & shouting, I lunged forward.
“I’ve seen this before in a dream—the bad guys are in the left tunnel,” Helen says.
“Right it is,” Utah Smith replies.
“YOU SAID THEY WERE ON THE LEFT!” Smith yells as their jeep tears back up the tunnel.
“THEY WERE IN MY DREAM!” Helen yells back as they go left.
“…Maybe they’re in both?”
