So much of the world never made sense. It was blurry, unclear, unshapely, and distorted.
Try as I might to understand, it always felt like a piece was missing, especially in the long term.
And then, Dr. Bock gave me the Glasses.
So many things fell into place.
Not least of which my license.

dissolve into mist;
further beyond,
shadows stretch
and merge.
Direction twists,
moments shift,
yet the lantern clings
to its dim circle—
adrift in a landscape
of unseen paths.

I’m a theoretical physicist. Closing my eyes, I’m near-sighted in four dimensions, which puts me firmly in the quantum level. Nothing is concrete, all shapes are fuzzy and speculative. Open my eyes and I’m on firmer ground, at the macro level, looking up at objects fuzzy and speculative.

the ulterior motives
wrapped in harlequin colored tissue
So hearts might better see
the shadows beyond the smile

His glasses didn't work on the fourth dimension. The dead were still blurry. Their movements were indivisible, their voices like static in a blender. If he'd had better glasses, he wouldn't have stepped into the road that day. Boom. Glittering. Then clarity.

In dimension one, he couldn’t distinguish between lines and curves. Straight lines swirled; curves, like sticks.
In dimension two, he found shapes blurry. Triangles were squares, right?
In dimension three, he had no sense of space.
And in the fourth one?
His past and future seemed the same.

Near-sighted for most of her life, time had become similar to her near-sightedness: the worse her eyesight became, the quicker the passage of time, and she couldn't even slow down and see things and people for how they were until it was too late.

Dot awoke feel peculiarly full. This was concerning, Dot had never felt full before. Or been awake. Within moments, the panic grew.
Dot had never experienced moments before. Not knowing what was coming next. Even knowing itself was alien!
Leaving the first dimension sucked!!
