This was the first job Hannah had secured where her face would be in the ad. There was a future she could imagine. Move Ethan into an apartment and get out of their Box. It would be nice to have a kitchen, and maybe a second room.
This was meant to be a whole campaign. It could lead to more projects. Things were looking up for them. At least, that is what she’d believed before seeing the mock up, in the middle of her hair and makeup time.
She knew she’d look great, and tasteful enough her parents wouldn’t have been ashamed to brag to their friends. But The Befouling had seen off that generation. Not directly, but Hannah’s mum always told her the careless ways they had acted at the start, before it was known how to keep safe.
Playing on that fear made the slogan feel so tacky to Hannah. She might have been embarrassed to have it in large print next to her face if it didn’t actually do what it claimed. The ad read:
She’s going NEW
She’s going CLEAR
She’s going NUCLEAR!
The new cleanser that obliterates pollution factors B24 and Ac12, whilst providing 3 hours of SPF 400.
It was important work. She was about to become the face of a safe outdoors.
