Overview of the Japanese Garden in the Huntington Library Botanical Garden in Pasadena, California. Most prominent is the steeply arched wood bridge (closed to pedestrians) over a pond. There is are also a willow tree, topiary trees pruned in the shape of stacked flat ovals. People are walking through the garden, and a Japanese style building is up on a bank in the distance. The sky is blue and it's a beautiful day. In addition to 130 acres of themed gardens, The Huntington has significant holdings of botanical living collections, including orchids, camellias, cycads, and bonsai, examples of which may be found throughout the grounds.

Huntington Library and Botanical Garden in California has themed gardens. Not as historical as Europe, but definitely a landmark in SoCal. This is the Japanese Garden.

Shot from the back of a fountain terrace at the far end of the Garden, the photo shows the edge of a fountain pool, then the vast garden comprised of two long and large ovals containing the flowering plants and grass with interior walking paths. A very broad crushed granite walkway circles the entire garden as well as down the middle of the two oval flower plant sections. Trees line the outer edge of this walkway. Into the distance we see the pale yellow Schönbrunn Palace. There are people walking on the paths which help give one the sense of scale and how enormous the Garden is.
