BBC Two - Pilgrimage, The Road to Holy Island Seven celebrities make a pilgrimage through the stunning landscapes of north east England.

This afternoon Alan & I happened by chance to watch an episode from this series & I'm so glad it did. Not only were the participants interesting as individuals but so were their own take on faith & spirituality.

It’s a must do for any Holy Island visit - watching a Lindisfarne Castle sun rise. There is a palpable change in atmosphere as the sun emerges on the horizon to signal the start of a new day.

Emmanuel Head 'The White Pyramid' a day marker for navigation built by Trinity House ( seafarers charity organisation ) between 1801 & 1810. It stands 35 ft tall.

Bamburgh Castle Northumberland from the cricket green - the cricket square is fenced off in the mid ground awaiting warmer & longer days of summer. For me the castle has a striking profile, especially from the north side of the beach, though as it it actively lived in it has been modernised - it's over 1500 years old - & the, understandable, patchwork effect leaves me a little underwhelmed.
