I apply dark green and bright pink acrylic paint with a brayer. While still wet, I place a piece of mixed media paper overtop and rub it firmly.

Want to see a gel plate monoprint made? First I made some lime green & pink marks on the gel plate with a paint brush and let it dry. Then I put on some hand-cut stencils followed by a layer of 2 tones of yellow acrylic paint.....
