A small pale blue butterfly with white edging to the wings. It has black and white striped antennae with black ends. it's perched on a damaged Ivy leaf which is a shiny dark green.

A Bumblebee shaped insect with a fluffy looking light brown body and a black tail. It has a long straight proboscis held out in front of it. Its translucent wings are held back and have small black dots on them. It's resting on a light coloured hessian bag. It's pointing upwards.

A leaf shaped greenish yellow butterfly with two orange spots on its wings is perched on a nettle leaf. It's surrounded by lush green leaves and some thin dead twigs.

We spotted our fist butterfly of the year this morning, this splendid male Brimstone (Gonepteryx rhamni). Unusually, it came to rest just long enough to take this photo. 😊

Literally 24 hours after I spotted the first Tawny Mining Bees (Andrena fulva) in our back garden, this dapper Dark-edged Bee-fly (Bombylius major), a #parasitoid of mining bees turns up. 🤣🤣
