Have a rope splicing project on the to-do list, and the hemp line I'm working with is pretty stiff. Haven't owned a decent splicing/Swedish fid in years, so made myself one from a scrap of 1/2" copper pipe and a bit of oak dowel.

Bought a small set of tools sized for the small cord I've been using (and paracord), which came with this marlinspike/case. Re-tied the paracord lanyard, and tied a purely decorative 4B5L turk's head around the case itself, just because.

ABOK#2271, a mat started with overlapping half-hitches (in much the same way you'd start a masthead knot, just with a few more loops.) I'm pretty sure I've tied a version of this that did start with a masthead at some point.
