The Mandelbrot Set,
Whatever else its goal,
In image or in theory
Brings peace to my soul.

I think I know why it evokes
Calm when life's a mess:
Hopeful involutions equal
Complete limitlessness.

I don't know the image credit -- it's been my lock screen for years.

The natural labyrinth of my brain
Cables in pulsing knots, sparks jumping chasms
And #involutions curled into many dead ends
Burrowed by my memories, sunny and dreadful
Shaped like the worms I feed them
To keep them at bay

I look up at the involutions of stars, the forever out of reach, the kept safe by their far enough away. I imagine so many planets spinning around those points of light, and someone just like me looking up at our distant shine imagining the #involutions keeping us apart. Alone in the dark.

#vss365 Drowsy escorted Jo into a deep sleep and her personal Screamland. Her dreams folded in on themselves, creating new #involutions of horror. Misshapen monsters doubled over into fresh, grotesque frights. They gnarled tortuous hellscapes into feartasies that entangled Jo in mindmares.

Pt 51
Right below was the sacred path that had felt the feet of fasting petitioners lightly tread upon it for untold thousands of years, its #involutions leading them up to their solitary ledges. Prayer cloths and tobacco ties fluttered brightly from many of the small bushes on that side.
