Last month, I got to lead a #JanesWalk in downtown #Milwaukee! #JaneJacobs was an #activist, an #urbanist, and she believed that cities are for people and should be built with people in mind. To that end, Jane's Walks are citizen-led walks, to connect people with one another and with their city!
At the time Poundbury was criticised for being twee and pastiche to the max, but today, in urban design terms, there is much to be said for this particular take on Dorset vernacular...

I keep thinking about a 1990s Jane Jacobs book - basically about how we have Government and Business, and they are run differently. For a bunch of good reasons. The format is characters in conversation which made it readable despite complex concepts. Title is 'Systems of Survival'
