1- the setting Jennah and Squig meant to be is in a dark fantasy setting, so there might be some hints on her design that explain it, like her monster arm, though I also have in mind that if it were a game, it would be a hybrid of farming/hunting game and first person shooter with the "gun and magic" gimmick like Bioshock has. 2- Jennah is cynical, aloof, almost indifferent and has a dark sense of humor, but she isn't entirely evil, just being herself to survive the world she lives in alongside her friend Squig who she seems to care, acting motherly, sisterly, funny, caring and almost protective, she even has a sharp tongue when speaking to some people, she's not afraid of being rude. She used to live with her brother Mathias, both of them surviving the cruel world they lived in, it is easy to say that her brother passed away, but if it weren't for him she wouldn't have lived til this very day, so much so that he even made that monster arm for her when she lost hers against another monster. 3- she is somewhat inspired by Alice from American McGee's Alice, still thinking of more differences than just her design and the setting she's from. 4- Squig may not be edgy, not entirely compared to Jennah as I picture him being funny, adorable, curious and childish, but he does bring comfort for her, there are times when he may stress her out when he gets too far or doesn't listen to him, mostly when she worries about him getting potentially mauled, even telling him to hide before she faces any potential enemies coming forth.
Still yet to think of the lore of where Jennah and her friend Squig are from, but I will describe some things about both characters in the Alt text.
