A picture of a longhorn beetle on top of a blade of grass. Its antennas are orange-brown and 1.5 times the size of its body. The elytras are grey with tiny spots and they have a black band on the third of it at the bottom. Species is Leiopus femoratus.

A dark brown, nearly black millipede walks towards the camera across a flat piece of wood. The photo is so close that most of the millipede is out of focus, but its face is visible, with a visor-like dark swathe over its eyes, and two small, hairy antennae gently probing the ground in front of it.

Millipedes! We have a lot of them, mostly living in the soil and under debris, helping with the breakdown of dead matter. This one is in the family Julidae.
