On #ThisDayInHistory in 1626, the new #StPetersBasilica in #Rome was consecrated, 1300 years to the day since #OldStPetersBasilica was consecrated in 326. The first was begun under Roman Emperor #Constantine I. The replacement was begun under Pope #JuliusII after failed repairs.
