For Xaela it's a form of affection to bunt each other with horns, but Kenji is always afraid of being too rough with others and accidentally hurting them.

The two were hanging out at the Lake Toari with a scenic environment around them. Kenji's oblivious and excited rambling about the food they tried in Mehwahhetsoan only made Estinien want to pull him in for a kiss more, just to keep him quiet and let them enjoy the forest ambience.

Before he realized what he's actually done, it was too late to stop. It wasn't a really deep kiss, but it was enough to make Esinien's inside twist in embarrassment. Kenji wasn't experienced with it and it took him by surprise, but it felt nicer than he'd imagine.

Estinien finally got back to his senses and tried to pull away, but Kenji wanted more. "Let's do one more." he asked a little dazed and intrigued by the sensation. Flustered even more, Estinien cleared his throat with "Let's not-!" and made a poor attempt at distracting his companion by blaming the hot sunny day or... the sabotender juice they've had earlier.

Unlike his brother, Kenji was never good with playing instruments. He enjoyed listening to others, but never actually learned it himself. Still, he felt the need to show off at least a little in front of Estinien and attempted to play Morin khuur for him.

During their time in Tural together, Estinien had a lot of opportunities to see Kenji without all the layers and grew weirdly attracted to all the scales on his body. He was lucky Kenji wasn't bothered by physical contact, so he sometimes used some playful excuse just to trace the scales with his fingers.

Estinien's guilty pleasure was also taking a peek at Kenji's sharp teeth. Being older, he sometimes used the excuse of teasing him and checking if the boy cleaned them well after one of his many filling meals. If only he had a good excuse for running his thumb over the long fang...

Even if Kenji didn't seem bothered by their casual physical contact, Estinien himself couldn't help being embarrassed with his own attraction for his companion. He felt wrong for being so bold with the boy and sometimes wondered if the Xaela don't release some weird pheromones to drive others crazy over them...

Kenji may be a Reaper in combat, but on the island he only reaps the crops he grows with a lot of care. Estinien has some farming experience as well from his younger days, but he's definitely rusty compared to his younger companion.

Rather than gardening, Estinien is much more experienced as a shepherd. Although the island karakul don't need guidance in the peaceful habitat, they still flock to him and Kenji with trust and curiosity.

Back when the group walked in on Estinien's shirtless exercise in his room at Meghaduta, Kenji ended up distracted from the conversation by the view of his disrobed friend. But not for the reasons one would expect him to be.

It wasn't the first time he's ever seen Estinien shirtless, but the sight of what was left on the Elezen's body after the Dragonsong War continued to make him feel uneasy. The pain must've been indescribable.

Kenji heard a lot about the conflict from his brother. He even visited the Steps of Faith himself and witnessed the disturbing past in a vision granted by the Echo. He'll never forget the sight of someone he cares about being used as a puppet and deformed into an instrument of vengeance.

Estinien noticed his friend staring very intensely, but misunderstood Kenji's intentions. He couldn't help feeling strangely flustered with the boy drilling holes in his body with his eyes. Still, he did his best to keep a straight face.

Kenji wasn't there to witness Estinien's descent when taken over by Nidhogg, but heard enough about it from his brother's stories. Just seeing Estinien's scarred body put everything into perspective.
