This is a chart to knit the patch in the accompanying picture. The design reads “LOVE,” in all capital letters. There are four colors of yarn: yellow, white, purple, and black. These are alternated as the background, and the overlaid text goes in a reverse color order.

The chart can be read and knitted top-down OR left to right. In white text, on top of the chart it reads, “cast on 22 stitches,” and below the chart it reads “cast off and weave in ends.” In black text, to the left of the chart, rotated 90 degrees counted-clockwise, it reads “cast on 9 stitches,” and to the right of the chart, “cast off and weave in ends.”

Each row alternates knit and purl (noted as K and P), starting from the top in white text. Each column is labeled similarly with the rotated black text, starting from the left-most column.

This is a picture of Kyle smiling at the camera, wearing a visor with a knit patch under a sweatshirt hood. They are a white gender fluid person with long brown hair. The patch reads LOVE with a heart, in trans pride colors: light blue, pink, and white. The patch is safety pinned to the visor.

day 1171: made a quick chart for this design, and attached my patch to my visor 🩵🩷🤍

I knitted this from left to right, but am thinking I’ll try it top-down next 🧶

A chart is shown with a 15x15 grid. It shows a colorwork design which reads “ICE OUT” for small patch. Text above the grid reads, “cast on 15 stitches of background color.” The odd rows have a “K” for knit on the left side of each. The even rows have a “P” for purl to the right. Text under the chart reads, “cast off & weave in ends.” This patch is stockinette and can be created with various needle sizes and weights. In the video we see ones made with 4–medium weight yarn and 4 mm needles.

day 1165: I was able to create two patches this morning 🧶

If I have enough yarn, I love doing these in inverted colors. Seeing how the same two colors can create such different outcomes is always interesting 🩵🩷

This is a rough chart that was used to create the patch to the left. There is a grid of 21 stitches by ~20 rows (the bottom two aren’t drawn), which has a striped heart over an incompletely filled in background.

this is a photograph of 5 knitted patches. They all read “ICE OUT” over a black background. The color of the text varies from patch to patch. As pictured, from the top moving clockwise, the text colors are melon pink, ice blue, off-white, dark teal, and mint green. These patches are a stockinette stitch, and the ends are not yet woven in.
