Black-headed Gull blue K741: Brockholes LWT, Lancs. 4th Apr 2026. Ringed as chick in Minsk, Belarus on 4/6/25. Resighted at Nosterfield, North Yorkshire on 27/7/25⦠next resighting Brockholes 4/4/26. The first sighting of any ringed bird in Lancs from Belarus⦠though there is an old record of a Water Rail ringed at Heysham NR, Lancs and killed by a Cat in Minsk, Belarus!

The 2026 breeding wader season at Brockholes is looking very positive currently following encouraging work by the conservation team over the winter months with 12 sitting Lapwing, 14 LRP, 6 Redshank and 4 Oystercatcher onsite today. My second Osprey of the spring flew NW at 15:33. #LancsBirding

Had a good walk around Oglet today; hoping for my 1st wheatear of year; no joy. 2 Whimbrell, 40 Curlew, 3 Cettis, SE Owl, 2 Sparrowhawk, Buzzard, Chiffchaffs & Common Lizard were nice to see.

Drake Common Scoter at Fishmoor Res, Blackburn late afternoon. Settled on a total of 32 Sand Martin at Brockholes earlier, an unprecedented number for 6th March. Only one other double figure count before second half of month 1998-2026 and that was as recent as last year, 17 on 10/3/25. #LancsBirding
