My father was Catholic. My mother was not. She studied to convert because her marriage wasn't recognized, but dropped it in a rousing argument with Father Murray, who insisted dogs couldn't go to heaven because they didn't have souls. I'm with my mother & Stevenson.

It's been a bit of a time since I've been seen in a church (one basic problem might be that I don't believe in any of it) but if the Catholic Herald is being sold in one the churchgoers should carry one up to the priest and say 'I'm not coming back because of this' and walk out. #lapsedcatholic

St Marie’s RC church was built in the mid 19thC in a rapidly growing #Sheffield. Listed in 1973, it became a Cathedral in 1980. A quiet sanctuary in the heart of the city with some beautiful glass.
I love Sheffield, did my post-grad studies there.

Completely forgot it was Shrove Tuesday. I have chicken in the fridge I need to use for dinner tomorrow, but it's Ash Wednesday (a day of fasting and abstinence from meat if you're a Catholic).
