Reflecting on a fantastic time at #LavLang30 in Brighton. Great to meet with colleagues and discuss current research in lavender languages, and present my work in progress PhD project on the identity construction of lesbian youth on TikTok 🦩🏳️🌈

I became a meme at #LavLang30 last week - this might be the the pinnacle of my career!
The #LavLang30 queer linguistics conference was wonderful - congrats to @genderedform.bsky.social and Co! Next year's will take place, most likely again at the end of August, in Manchester UK! #LavLang31
Back home from #lavlang30 after three days of fascinating research, meeting new people, and finally seeing so many LLI friends in person. I am happy and whole and inspired and so unbelievably greatful that this community exists 🥰
Really great panel on how to square non-essentialist approaches to gender and sexuality in quantitative research: corpus linguistics, sociophonetics, psycholinguistics #lavlang30
Contributions by SalinaCuddy, Ryan Shaw-Hawkins, Frazer Heritage and Daniel Edmondson
Many people said kind things about my #lavlang30 plenary, but the greatest compliment was from the ca. 10yo son of a delegate, who said "I really liked it, and I'm not even into this stuff".
Very interesting to learn about the queer media corpus being built by Lars Vorberger et al. The corpus is in German - does anything like it exist in English?- but it has a "queer network of the day" element in English, for topic analysis. #lavlang30 www.slm.uni-hamburg.de/germanistik/...
Delighted to hear a talk, by Federico Zaupa, that combined queer linguistics and business discourse: representation of LGBT+ people in corporate disclosure documents #LavLang30
Just presented my dissertation at #LavLang30! Everyone here is so lovely and the talks have all been incredible. Really excited to see the work still to come! 📝💻🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️
We loved starting the conversation about RLW2 at #LavLang30 today. In the name of accessibility, community, and mutual aid, we're hosting a 2nd #RedoingLinguisticWorlds 2 workshop in October (online, free). More info & interest form: www.krisknisely.com/rlw2
Interesting discussion with Natascha Rohde about incels as queer communities this morning. Also: dipping a toe into computational linguistics and a brilliant talk by Fabriel Jackson on presenting as "authentically trans" on social media #lavlang30
This morning, I am learning about a queer lexicon in Muskogee, an indigeneous North American language. No place like #lavlang30 to broaden your horizon!
Anything to keep the #lavlang30 wheels turning! What a brilliant first day 👏
End of day 1 of @Lavlang. A wonderful time meeting new & old lavender friends.Great first plenary @william_leap celebrating 30y with a new commitment for resistance in such tough political times.A huge thanks to @lucyjones.bsky.social for going above (literally) & beyond to help! #lavlang30

I'm listening to a presentation where the researcher collected ten hours of conversation data and found five (5) examples of the feature they were looking for. Is that dedication or madness? #LavLang30
I'm attending the (post)grad session at #LavLang30 this afternoon, fascinating to learn about early language and sexuality research.

Books published in this series will contribute to ongoing debates shaping the emerging fields of queer and trans linguistics. For more information or to discuss an idea for a book in the series, please contact one of the Series Editors: Rodrigo Borba, rodrigoborba@letras.ufrj.br Lucy Jones, lucy.jones@nottingham.ac.uk William L.
