Stacks of wood-ribbed folded hand-fans are stacked on top of each other with heavy granite stones siting on top of the stacked fans to press the folds. This is an old photo, and at the time, this was one of the few traditional handmade fan businesses in Japan. It's located in Kyoto, a city rich in traditional Japanese art and skills. There was concern that this would be a dying profession since younger generations aren't interested in old customs.

That year I had pink geraniums on my balcony.
I lost track of this painting unfortunately. It was in a few shows. Either I forgot to pick it up or someone took it. It's out in the world, hopefully doing some good.
