Photo taken thru the window - so there are a few reflections. Background is a white painted brick wall and a ‘shabby chic’ wooden ladder.
Four 12” wooden artists’ mannequins are arranged on a box / plinth which has been covered in a rainbow coloured crochet knee rug - on top is a small piece of light grey knitting …
From the left side of the photo: sitting on a red wire work miniature chair - this mannequin is embroidering. She wears a short knitted dress - it’s grey, mauve, yellow (a long length variegated yarn) - she has a wig (knitted) strawberry blonde, shoulder length) {I’m quite proud of that wig - it looks almost realistic}. She sits with one foot on top of the other (perhaps her stitches aren’t going well). In her hands: white fabric in a mini embroidery hoop and a tiny ‘needle’ & thread.
Under her chair is a mini sewing basket {I didn’t make that - it’s Re-ment, a Japanese brand of miniatures}
The next mannequin sits in a bright chartreuse plastic chair, they are wearing a crochet ‘70s inspired pantsuit - bright orange & pink. She has a bright yellow wig - short hair {not very successful}. This mannequin is crocheting.
The 3rd mannequin along the back sits on a yellow wire work chair and is knitting. She wears a knitted skirt (bluish) with a Lacey knitted blouse (bright light blue - it has balloon sleeves) she also has a broad brimmed hat on (its crochet & mauve).
Her knitting is chartreuse - it could be a scarf.
Finally - in the foreground sitting on the edge of the ‘plinth’ is a mannequin arranging some tiny crochet squares - laying them out as a blanket on the bit of grey knitting. He wears pale blue distressed jeans (knitted) with a navy polo shirt.
All the clothes, headwear and most of the props made by me.
A close up of 2 mannequins - the crocheter & the knitter. Background is a white painted brick wall and a ‘shabby chic’ wooden ladder.
Under their feet - a rainbow coloured crochet knee rug - on top is a small piece of light grey knitting …
At the left side of the photo & closer to us :
This mannequin sits with her ankles crossed in a bright chartreuse plastic chair, she is wearing a crochet ‘70s inspired pantsuit - bright orange & pink. The top has flared sleeves to match the flared pants. She has a bright yellow wig - short hair {not a very successful wig}.
This mannequin is crocheting with mauve thread - the ball is by her foot on top of a bright blue mini booklet - the title on it reads “How to Make Lovely Things”.
I made the mannequin’s mini crochet hook from a toothpick - carved a hook shape and painted it silver.
Next to and slightly behind the crocheter is the knitting mannequin. She sits on a yellow wire work chair; wearing a knitted skirt (bluish) with a Lacey knitted blouse (bright light blue - it has balloon sleeves) she also has a broad brimmed hat on (its crochet & mauve). Behind her chair we can just see part of a mini project bag - it’s knitted and balls of yarn are spilling from it. Her knitting could be a scarf- it is bright chartreuse & looks chunky. Her knitting needles were made from bamboo skewers with fancy blue beads for the ‘ends’.
All the clothes, headwear and props (except the chairs) made by me.
Background is a white painted brick wall and a ‘shabby chic’ wooden ladder with a knitted scarf hanging on it - the twisting end of the scarf is visible here.
In this photo we are sort of looking over the shoulder of the mannequin doing embroidery. She is sitting on a red wire work miniature chair, ankles crossed and one foot on top of the other. She wears a short knitted dress with bracelet length sleeves and a funnel neck - it’s grey, mauve, yellow (a long length variegated yarn) - she has a wig (knitted) strawberry blonde, shoulder length) {I’m quite proud of that wig - it looks almost realistic}.
In her hands: a piece of white cloth in a mini embroidery hoop {a split ring, like on a key ring} some tiny flowers have been embroidered - and a tiny ‘needle’ & thread {the end of a pin with thread glued to it!}
Under her chair is a mini sewing basket {I didn’t make that - it’s Re-ment, a Japanese brand of miniatures} a pair of scissors and messy threads are on top.
In the background we see the crocheting mannequin - see the 2nd photo for a full description.
Under the mannequins - covering the ‘plinth’ is a rainbow coloured crochet knee rug - on top of it is a small piece of light grey knitting …
I made all the mannequin’s clothes & wigs - and the ‘embroidery’
#mannequinmonday sometimes I posed the 12” wooden artist’s mannequins having a Crafternoon in the window of the (sadly now closed) Granny Squares shop. It also served as a reminder of all the crafts you could get supplies for at the shop 😉
