Siebenbrunn-Leopoldsdorf (for those who like long train station names). Rural #Austria 🇦🇹 in a way, yet just a stone’s throw from #Vienna. Picture taken in November 2018, before the line was upgraded and electrified. This is actually the most direct line to #Bratislava 🇸🇰, via #Marchegg.

#Vienna 🇦🇹, early 2000s: a photo taken at “Südbahnhof Ostseite”. A Class 754 diesel of the Slovak Railways is being coupled onto a rake of equally Slovak cars in view of a departure for #Bratislava 🇸🇰 via #Marchegg. The site, now home to the #Hauptbahnhof, has undergone a substantial transformation.

Red-backed Shrike
A wander from the base of the stork viewing platform at Marchegg, Austria produced 4 or 5 sightings of White-tailed Eagle, singles of Black Stork, Black Kite, Red Kite, Green Sandpiper and a family of Red-backed Shrikes. A Beaver was also seen.

Yesterday's walk at WWF Auenreservat Marchegg produced 8 raptor species: 11 White-tailed Eagles, Imperial Eagle, Osprey, Honey Buzzard, Black and Red Kites, Common Buzzards and 2 Sparrowhawks.

Walking about Marchegg-Bahnhof to Kleiner Breitensee, eastern Austria today. Lesser Purple Emperor and Dryad were the butterfly highlights. Also, White-tailed Eagle, Hobby, 14 Bee-eaters, 3 Marsh Tits and 3 woodpecker sp., including Lesser seen.
