A huge vintage 1940s 50s Art Deco handmade sterling silver modernist floral Flower design brooch by Marvin Rudow of Rockport, MA. Rudow was an early east-coast artisan jeweler working in the 1930s to at least the 1970s period. He lived in NYC where I'm guessing he was an instructor at one of the local colleges/universities, and opened his shop in Rockport only during the summer months. Rudow also made copper and copper enamel jewelry in the 1950s. In any case, this is a great Art Deco to modernist design (contains elements of both, in my opinion), entirely handmade, and in great shape after all these years! Measures 3" tall by 1.5" wide, and weighs 9.7 grams. Marked at back as shown, "Rudow Sterling". Rudow is also well known for his copper and copper enamel jewelry from the 1940s 50s era, and I'll be adding a couple examples soon. Excellent vintage condition.
A big sculptural sterling silver late Art Deco to early modernist floral brooch by Marvin Rudow of Rockport, MA, circa 1940s.
