Here's a cute little dragon I painted on calfskin (copied from a 13th century bestiary) using traditional medieval techniques and pigments (labelled in second image) #medievalmanuscripts #medievalscriptorium #bookhistory

I'll be demonstrating manuscript processes at the craft fair at @imc-leeds.bsky.social on Thursday - ink, illumination and pigment. I'll have all my materials on display so come along and see what's involved! #medievalscriptorium

An excellent start to the day with some fox canines delivered in the post. I’ll use these for burnishing gold leaf. Cennini advises (for burnishing) ‘dog’s tooth is also good, or a lion’s, a wolf’s, a cat’s, and in general that of any animal which feeds decently upon flesh’ #medievalscriptorium

Some pics from a recent medieval art workshop I did for U3A with collaborator Steve Lawes. Weirdly, it was in Hockley – where I grew up. The workshop was held in the Old Fire Station, where I had my 7th birthday party 😆 #medievalscriptorium
